Survival Food

Let's face it - in today's world we seem to be dealing with one disaster after another and that's where knowing everything you can about survival food will help you survive the worst scenario.

Whether it be a flood, a hurricane, a tornado, or an earthquake, you need to be prepared for power losses that may last for several days.

In fact, Homeland Security recommends that you should have enough survival and emergency food on hand for at least 7 days so you'll be ready for any situation.

5000 Watt Generator

This is a picture of a 5000 watt generator. This is what I really wish I had in hand when Hurricane Sandy hit this fall.

Like many others in the Northeast, I was without power for several days. I had no heat, no water, and no way to keep the food in my refrigerator from going bad.

Although I thought I was prepared for the storm, what I really needed to survive the days following the storm was a generator like the one pictured here.

I don't know about you, but in my opinion there's something really fun about being a pirate for Halloween.
